Nic’s tranquil day of diving is marred by tragedy. Nic parts ways with pals Lisa and Jodie, then rushes over to check on sister Cath after noticing Cath’s boyfriend Greg’s strange behaviour. Nic comes too late and discovers her sister drowned in a bathtub, sparking a new fear of being trapped underwater. She abandons her family and life, only to return for a memorial trip with Lisa, Jodie, and Nic’s other sister, Annie, after a long absence. On a kayaking and diving vacation, Nic battles with her anxiety, and fixing broken bridges isn’t the only issue; an angry shark is also stalking them.
