The animated shorts concentrate on Baby Groot, with Vin Diesel reprising his role as the voice of the beloved humanoid plant. Marvel Studios announced the new series with an official photograph of Peter Quills resting as Baby Groot over retro Walkman headphones in a tweet. He lies down next to a palm tree-shaped air freshener, displaying his little size, with two four-eyed penguin-like creatures looking out from behind him. These two mischievous-looking animals haven’t been in any of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, but they appear to have a role in the next series.
Aside from the image, Marvel and Disney haven’t said much about the show, although Marvel describes it as “Baby Groot’s golden days growing up and getting into trouble among the stars.” We don’t know if the programme will feature any of the other Guardians in animated form, or if it will be entirely centred on Groot.
