The confident realisation guides us into this gear without fuss or fanfare with a steady pace that never wavers and where we stay anchored in the present and credibility. There are undoubtedly some scenes in the movie that are less successful than others (the home invasion scene in particular), but overall, the movie manages to stay away from the usual genre clichés.
Although not a great movie, Emily the Criminal is a successful suspense in which Aubrey demonstrates her extraordinary talent as she must navigate a variety of dilemmas and moral decisions. Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy, Army of the Dead) makes a good impression as his crime partner, dragging him into this setting where the allure of money is more than alluring and appears to be the only way out. and a door for Emily’s exit. A less stereotypical and more human role for a criminal drama that aims to present the facts and outcomes of the actions rather than condemn them.
